The tips in this recipe are great for making actually tender liver. But the milk takes away *too* much of that liver taste that I actually like, leaving me with a pan of rather bland liver. It's great if yous're trying to go your kids to eat liver, but equally someone who actually likes liver, I think I'll forgo the milk next time.

I admittedly loved this recipe! I added a little garlic to the pan before I fried the onions, and that gave it a actually nice flavour.
03/01/2003
mmmmmm! this realy is the best recipe for liver. I had never thought of soaking in milk earlier. When I tried it last night it came out fantastic. It was tender, moist and delicious. Not the usual "shoeleather" quality that liver can sometimes take on. Aye I belive this recipe will convert liver haters into liver tryers.
03/07/2007
Great recipe! My hubby raved about the liver. I was a little hesitant since I hadn't cooked liver in over 15 years. I used extra virgin olive oil instead of the butter.
04/xviii/2003
I made this last night for dinner at the request of my fiance. I have to admit, liver has never been my favorite dish, and I've never made it earlier, only this recipe was so like shooting fish in a barrel, and it's true, the milk takes out all of the biting taste. If it was good enough that I cleaned my plate, it deserves v stars!!
04/25/2003
it was moist, succulent, and nearly of all easy like shooting fish in a barrel piece of cake!! i soaked the liver for about thirty mins, and i liked liver without soaking it in milk, but i dont recollect i volition ever consume liver and onions again unless im using this recipe, it was fabulous!! thank you

Great recipe overall...love seeing the soaking in milk step like I have always done. I saw Julia Kid do that years ago and knew how important it is but I am amazed at how many people just fry information technology right out of the pack and and then complain of the strong sense of taste! A great tip past the way, since you lot are already doing the caramelized onions, practise a huge batch upwards and make onion marmalade to can a jar or two. Back to the recipe at hand, the only complaint I take with the directions is that someone who hasn't cooked liver earlier actually needs to empathize what is done. Liver is much like steak in that by the time it gets to the completely done stage, it gets tough since it keeps cooking subsequently you pull it off the estrus. You really demand to pull information technology off when it'south still slightly pink and that's if yous desire it completely done...we prefer it pink for tenderness. Too, you lot demand to add the onions back Earlier it'due south done for this aforementioned reason. The time given is really likewise long...for the average thickness the way most is packaged, four to five minutes is plenty of fourth dimension in a medium/hot pan. I also recommend adding some garlic pulverisation to the flour dredging mixture or some seasoned table salt. To really send this recipe off the charts, make a gravy out of the drippings left in the pan...not too thick, and serve it on the side but information technology is awesome poured correct over the height and served with some thick biscuits.

My Dad is a HUGE liver & onion fan and he LOVED this, as well as the fact that I fabricated information technology for him. Great recipe, its the same as the 1 on the parcel of liver ;)
03/12/2003
This rating comes from hubby, although I did requite it a lilliputian gustation and I must admit that it was pretty skilful. He came home with calves liver, which I've never cooked, so I was happy to find this recipe. I never would have thought to soak it in milk. He absolutely LOVED this "J" and thanks so much!
09/22/2010
This dish was fantastic. I only soaked the liver while the onions cooked every bit I prefer the strong liver flavor. After cooking, I added 1 cup of beef broth to the pan drippings and cooked until the liquid had reduced by a little more than than half. I then added the onions and the liver back to the pan. The remaining liquid thickened nicely to make a delicious gravy. Cheers for this wonderful recipe.
03/27/2011
I've always dear liver and onions when it was made correctly past other people, simply I never liked my ain. Thanks to this recipe, that has changed. Soaking the liver in milk really did have out most of the bitterness of the liver. Plus, I was overcooking my liver. Wow, some uncomplicated tips that actually make all the difference in the world. With the price of meat escalating these days, cooking cheaper foods competently is a crucial skill. Truth be told, I'd adopt a good dogie's liver to a ribeye any solar day. Cheers for the help!

Nice recipe. Accept never found a beefiness liver recipe that wasn't ameliorate due west/calf'south liver. Flour mix was a bit banal, so this time used some garlic powder and hot Hungarian paprika in the flour mix. With a flake more time, I'd try some other spices simply was rushed tonight; milk soak virtually 30 min. merely sufficient. I regard the milk soak as optional for flavor (hold with ane reviewer that it sucks a bit too much of the liver flavor out), but Actually necessary for getting the flour to stick! The "don't plough it" advice is not bad; I've ever stirred and fidgeted with information technology earlier, which messes upwards the blanket and mushes upwardly the liver. TURN In one case. Onions were dandy; tossed in a splash of some white wine for no reason other than I was drinking information technology - don't think it added or detracted! Wife thought it was very good, too. We both grew up in very different backgrounds - as huge liver fans. I used to take a pet owl growing upwards (really) - he liked liver, likewise, except RAW. Ewwwwwwww.

My wife used to buy Liver twice a twelvemonth (neither one of u.s. like liver) we would eat a little of it and toss the rest in the bin. When asked why? she bought it, she replied it had peachy Iron content. Allow me say this and brand information technology crystal articulate since finding your recipe, nosotros now have liver every "WEEK" and there are no leftovers. Thank you for sharing
03/16/2011
I've fixed liver & onions this way for many years. Equally some others have mentioned, I add together a fiddling garlic. After the liver is dredged in flour and in the pan and turned the outset time, I put well-nigh of cup of the left over flour in there ... really! Just dump it in and cook forth with the liver and onions. Viola! Yummy gravy. Of course with that corking gravy, one needs homemade mashed potatoes. A perfect meal.
12/07/2010
Since my wife don't like liver, I idea the milk soak would change her mind. Nope, she however didn't intendance for it. And since I grew up eating liver with a strong flavour, the milk soak extracted the flavor I capeesh. However, the temperature guidelines this recipe gave me reduced the temperatures I had been using for the onions and the liver leaving me with a better texture of both. My second attempt with this recipe, I eliminated the milk soak, seasoned the liver directly earlier breading information technology instead of calculation the seasoning to the flour, and doubled the butter amount to keep enough moisture in the skillet to simmer the onions and cook the liver. The end issue was the best liver & onions I have ever fixed. Next time I'm going to try calculation a slight amount of cooking oil instead of doubling on the butter. Oh yeah, the liver I cooked with this recipe was venison liver.
07/23/2011
such a bully recipe, im non the biggest fan of liver only i went back for seconds
10/11/2011
This recipe is perfectly named! Absolutely! I've been cooking liver for 50 years and and liking it but it has never been better than this. Cheers so much.
02/06/2014
Oh so good!! Nosotros already like liver but this was especially yummy! It was very flavorful and tender. I followed the recipe as written exceptI only soaked it in milk for 30 minutes. I fried some salary slices commencement and set bated to intermission over the top later. I sauteed a couple fresh mushrooms with the onions. The liver, the sauteed onions and mushrooms, and the bacon pieces all piled on a serving platter made for a yummy repast with mashed potatoes, and ketchup on the side for dipping. I followed the proposition to mix leftover flour with h2o in the frying pan to take advantage of all the flavorful pan drippings and this made a good gravy for the potatoes. I plan to repeat this method again!
02/24/2010
I grew upwardly loving liver and onions but was never successful at making information technology until trying this easy recipe. I've made it using both butter to fry in or oil. . . apply butter, it makes a big difference! There's nil quite similar the wonderful sweet flavor of perfectly carmelized onions every bit a companion to the keen taste of perfectly seasoned liver. I always make plenty for my brother-in-law too since our wives won't cook liver for usa. This one's a keeper!
07/25/2009
Made this tonight. Letting the liver soak in the milk is the central. Wonderful! this recipe is so easy, y'all don't even need to relieve it. I cooked the liver approx. 3 mins. each side. I fabricated a gravy with craven broth, some fatty from the pan and flour. I returned the liver to the pan with the gravy just before serving. I did both onions and bacon. Thanks for sharing.
09/18/2011
Not bad recipe. I am a large liver and onions fan and then I'll eat information technology whatsoever way it comes out, but the milk is magic. Information technology even improved the texture which a lot of people dislike. If you're making liver and onions, this IS the recipe!
02/25/2010
I made this for my Husband and Son terminal night and between the two they ate a whole pound of fried livers and onions. They said information technology was cracking.
08/29/2010
This is a great recipe for liver! Learned it from my Russian wife whose female parent makes it. The but difference is that I add a bit of sour cream after the liver has browned and allow it simmer to gustatory modality.
01/21/2011
I don't eat liver, don't treat it but my husband loves information technology. I made this recipe for his (without my ain tasting) and he LOVED it! I added garlic salt, paprika and pepper to the flour, didn't turn them simply in one case and also did the bacon with the onions. I did the milk soak for well-nigh 40 minutes, used beef calves livers. I volition definitely make this again or at least teach him how to arrive!
09/14/2010
Sorry... this however tasted like liver to me! It was BAD!!! I soaked information technology for four hours with no change!
01/02/2005
This was my first time cooking liver, and this recipe served for a dandy template. I cooked upwardly some bacon offset, and and so sauteed the sliced onions in the bacon grease. Drained and padded them both with newspaper towels before warming them dorsum up alongside the liver. Utterly delish.
11/04/2013
I am a recently retired butcher, and "fresh" liver is difficult to come by these days, and so I don't have it very often. With Deer & Elk season in full swing correct at present, I am busy helping friends & neighbors with a very bountiful harvest this yr, and this recipe is absolutely fantastic with fresh game liver. I've fabricated it 3 times so far. My 78 yr former Dad thinks that it is the closest recipe to my tardily Mother's. That is a heck of a compliment coming from him! Give thanks Yous!
07/19/2011
I made this for supper concluding dark. OMGosh, it was so good. I followed the recipe exactly as written only calculation some garlic pulverisation to the flour.. Just wonderful. So tender. The husband loved it. Took left overs for luncheon today. Cheers, will be making once more soon.
03/17/2011
perfect base recipe - then add your own touch. Loved it.
01/13/2015
I commonly never go dorsum to a web site after trying a recipe to describe my cooking experience, but afterwards trying this recipe I knew I just had to!! For years I had simply one liver and onion recipe...I made it over and over again, year afterward twelvemonth. I decided to google something new and I'm so glad I did! This is the best liver dish I take e'er tasted! My husband could non stop maxim how much he loved it. The only matter I inverse was the flour, I used gluten gratuitous and used 1 loving cup. I also added a bit of vegetable broth at the end, and I was so glad to just use a bit, because it would have taken abroad the crunchy bite the liver had to it. Can't look to make information technology again! Sandy from Houston
08/31/2011
Cooked this recipe today and was sooo impressed at how fantastic this came out. I accept tried and then many times to make Liver & Onions for years - just to throw them away simply not anymore considering they came out perfect from this recipe. So no more than going out to get great liver & onions, I can now cook them myself.....Thank you so much
08/01/2003
I'm giving this recipe v stars even though I volition only use it to make liver for our kids. Every bit my husband and I ate it, we noticed the strong liver flavor was missing. We grew up with that flavour and LIKE it. LOL!! So, nosotros will non soak our liver in milk, but will ever do the children'due south. (I just can't believe the milk is so constructive in getting rid of that flavor.) I'm glad to have plant this for the kids!
03/17/2011

02/11/2014

Hi there, I've never made liver before in my life only I had to for my boyfriend because he's having surgery and needs to build up his hemoglobin, then the poor male child needs lots of iron! His female parent would brand liver for him once a month as a child and he thinks information technology'due south atrocious stuff. I made him this and he loved, loved loved it! It was tender (milk?) and perfect and I fifty-fifty loved it too! The onions made all the difference and I also added a wee chip of rosemary to the liver (since I was using information technology in my roasted potatoes) and that was perfect. My mom used some dijon mustard for dipping and that helped her. Thanks for this, truly wonderful and unproblematic!!!
02/22/2010
This was fantastic! I haven't made this is years and had just bought some liver as a lark. I had to wait up how to cook information technology and this was the first recipe that came up. I didn't' take whatsoever milk merely half and half so I used that and added a bit of water to make milk? I merely had a few minutes to soak it also. I sent some over to my neighbour too and he chosen raving nearly it also! Thanks!
06/19/2009
I must have done something wrong because it was terrible.
12/02/2009
Very good. I fried up some bacon and quickly brown the liver on both sides in bacon grease equally well every bit the onions. I so placed the liver, onions and chopped bacon in the oven covered with aluminum foil at 350 for xx minutes. It came out very tender. I will be making this again. My kids and nephew had never had liver, Loved information technology!
x/21/2011
Bang-up recipe. I cut down the soak time in milk to just 15 minutes because I similar the unique taste of liver. I also used calves liver considering of the tenderness. A little play a joke on my mom taught me that ever helps is to take a meat tenderizer and hit the meat just a very little to brand it even more tender. The dish was merely perfect.
09/20/2003
While I don't think I volition ever be a liver lover, I did want to cook it for my husband considering he loves information technology. My children who until now refused to eat it because I had never wanted too, loved my "land fried steak"! And even I idea it was better than the residue of the times I've tried information technology. Their dad asked how they liked the country fried liver and onions and they were a little shocked but decided that they were nevertheless crazy most it! Which is great because information technology'southward cheap! And we're on a upkeep! My mother-in-law told me that that is why she fed my married man and sis-in-police liver so often when they were growing up. PLUS, it's good for you. But I notwithstanding won't eat more a bite!
04/10/2011
I tried this recipe and it was absolutely FABULOUS!!! It was the offset time I cooked liver for my family unit and my kids loved it. Wish this recipe was around when I was a kid....lol
10/17/2010

11/03/2009
I hate liver. I grew up antisocial liver. The gustatory modality use to make me throw up. This recipe has officially converted me. The milk is what does the play tricks. The first time I cooked it, I soaked it for more than than v hours. The 2nd time, considering I didn't have any time it was only for 20 minutes. I couldn't swallow information technology the second time, only the start fourth dimension was admittedly delicious.
11/21/2011
I love the advice to soak in milk. I love eating liver, but I can but stand up the liver sense of taste maybe one time or twice a *year*. And so when nosotros exercise it this mode I can eat it more often, which is great because I demand the extra iron.
08/22/2010
This was excellent. The merely matter I did different was to add together 2 C of beef goop to the skillet, covered and simmered for fifteen minutes. So darn skilful!!
08/29/2011
I love liver but have never been able to brand it at home and take information technology come out alright. This recipe makes cooking liver piece of cake and it comes out tasting great. Even my husband liked it.
07/xix/2011
Best I have had in a long time. Tender, cutting with a fork with great sense of taste.
10/31/2003
Since my husband hates liver, I waited until this night when he had to go out to make this for myself. I halved the recipe...other than that, I didn't change a matter. What a treat this was! A relaxing evening at home with i of my favorite meals - and no one complaining about the "liver smell." I truly enjoyed this dish.
05/xiv/2012
The milk makes the liver great. Try buttermilk too...even better. When I use buttermilk I soak all day and periodically pour out the former buttermilk and cascade in fresh. Then I utilise some of the buttermilk at the end to make a pan gravy. Fabulous!
01/17/2010
This was a fantastic recipe! I tried information technology tonight and prepared for 5 children 10 and under. 4 of them devoured it. 3 of them commented "this meat tastes actually expert". Definately one for the recipe book!
04/09/2014
I made this for my hubby today and he said it was succulent. Tender liver with great flavors. I did add a piddling olive oil with the butter so that it did non fire, used red onions (Vidalia would have worked cracking as well) and added a touch of minced garlic to the pan a couple of minutes before serving. If yous do add garlic be careful not to add to shortly as garlic burns apace. I served the liver with scrambled eggs and new potatos for brunch. Next fourth dimension I'll serve with sauted Shitake mushrooms as well. This is a great recipe...thank you for sharing.
01/07/2011
This may be a a iv or v star recipe, only my family unit would exist generous to give ane star. Did not plough them into converts; I call up liking liver as a child, just did not similar this. I did, however, put the onions on bread and that was quite tasty.
02/22/2010
I had never had beef liver earlier. My hubby had it as a kid and didn't like information technology. We recently purchased a side of beefiness and it came with several packages of beef liver, so I decided to try it. I used this recipe. I had porkchops planned as a backup for our dinner if we didn't similar this. Needless to say nosotros didn't need the porkchops. We were both pleasantly surprised that nosotros liked it. Information technology was not besides strong and very tender.
02/26/2011
I've never used milk and flour for liver. Turned out good. Tender and tasty.
06/06/2011
The name is correct! It IS the absolute all-time liver and onions!!! Give thanks you!!
08/01/2003
I have ever hated liver, but my husband loves it. I needed to learn how to cook information technology. When I found this, it even smelled better earlier I cooked it. At present he wants to know why do I melt liver every week.
01/13/2008
This is a fantastic recipe. I hate liver, but my husband loves it. I decided to attempt this recipe for him and he complained that it didn't taste as much like liver. But I was able to eat some and it tasted okay to me. I would say that this recipe produces a much milder season for the liver.
04/24/2003
I fabricated this last night & it was truly fabled! I had five other recipes to choose from, just the soaking in milk facinated me. It's very uncomplicated & cook fourth dimension is quick! Merely continue J'south iii tips in heed & I did soak the liver for about ii hrs prior. I will definately add together this to our fav dinners list
02/xx/2014
This was our commencement experience with liver and fifty-fifty and so only because my son requested it. We all decided that this would be a once a yr repast for us. We agreed we like the recipe it's simply the liver we had problems with. :)
01/18/2011
Very adept dish. My wife has never liked liver simply she actually enjoyed this recipe equally did my kids.
08/23/2010
Needs to soak for hours first merely tastes much amend than any other kind. Kids dearest it.
09/05/2014
No more than than 30 minutes milk bath! That way u still go liver flavor!! Also, really caramelize onions, that with a Maui Onion gives great sweetness. Carl
09/01/2013
Couldn't stand liver until this recipe came forth!Information technology totally eliminates that nasty seize with teeth liver leaves long after yous've eaten it.The merely thing different I do is stab upwards my liver in one case information technology'southward in the milk, and that seems to piece of work out well.I've let the liver sit in the milk from x minutes to over night.Doesn't thing how long information technology sits it does the same job.
02/17/2011
Liver was one of my favorite foods as a child, and this is exactly how my mom made information technology! Easy and straight frontward.
05/18/2005
I will Non eat liver and am not existent fond of cooking it but I will a couple times a year for my married man. He LOVED this recipe and, for whatever reason, information technology didn't seem to smell equally offensive to me when i was cooking at as liver commonly does! He may actually get liver more oft now!
09/15/2013
This is an excellent recipe. I am not a liver fan and my kids would never eat it and then when my last one went off to college, I surprised my husband with this dish. We both enjoyed it and I will make information technology once again! I did purchase skilful quality liver from the farmer'due south marketplace even though nosotros are on a budget as information technology was relatively inexpensive. Thanks for sharing!
02/12/2011
Just like grandma's.
07/24/2008
Hmmm...how do I review this? I had (note...past tense) a babyhood retentivity of actually liking liver. So when I was given some to cook, I made this. The house smelled wonderful, the onions looked beautiful, but then...I tasted it. It'south a strange flavor; I call up if you lot like livers, this could be a proficient recipe. But even after dousing information technology with ketchup, no become. So I can't really say it's a bad recipe since I believe this is all nearly personal preferences. Only I cannot rave about information technology either.
10/25/2013
I have been eating and making liver and onions for years and love it only the style I make it in the flour and pepper mix. Never imagined soaking it in milk before. Glad I did! The whole family unit loved information technology even more than! We didn't think that was possible. My husband insisted I liked, shared, thumbs'd upward, or whatever I could practise to say thanks! :)
09/14/2009
Yummy! I similar the milk soaking hint. I will brand my liver this way from now on.
x/03/2010
This is the manner my Mom fixed liver when I was young! Liver is yet 1 of my favs...
01/10/2011
Absolutely Fantastic! Bitter through the crispiness of the breaded liver infused with the caramelized onion rings drives my tastebuds wild!!! Uncomplicated and easy to learn! Very delicious! Thumbs up!
04/04/2013
Liked it so well I made it 2 nights in a row!!!!!
02/05/2010
My vii yr old loved it and then did I! I'yard afraid I'll never catechumen my husband into a liver eater though. Thank you for sharing!
01/02/2006
This recipie turned out great!!!! I loved it, the liver tasted great!
04/fourteen/2012
It tastes just like my mom'south and I don't believe she soaked hers at all. I simply tasted like liver to me. The onions were GREAT (but they e'er are when sauteed), I added curry and used sunflower seeds grinded up as a flour since we're grain-free. But otherwise information technology was just like ok and my DH who says he never had it, never wants it again lol.
10/22/2011
My offset time eating liver. I really liked the flavour, though I acknowledge I got grossed out that I wasnt eating a liver and couldnt finish my helping. Was super swell tasting though, thanks for the recipe.
04/21/2013
I have been using this recipe for years. My husband always told me he hated liver until I tried this receipe. I likewise add green pepper strips to the onions and a dash of paprika to the flour.
02/21/2011
Excellent! If you like liver this recipe is simple and tastes keen. Nosotros fried the liver in canola oil instead of butter and it turned out just fine.
x/x/2011
I've made this recipe three times. My husband loves information technology every time. Invited the neighbor over and he brutal in love besides!
03/08/2009
Outstanding, equally a "home girl" from Iowa I wasn't as well sure if I would similar this. My Mom cooks Slap-up Liver & Onions only she must be out shopping, and then I had to revert to a search on the internet. I remember even SHE volition love this. I know my husband and sons did!
01/18/2004
yum
12/18/2008
Soaking in milk very good. But all liver is best when topped with sauteed onions and mushrooms but when sauteing them add some soy sauce!!!
02/23/2011
Excellent recipe! Loved information technology immensely.
01/02/2011
We used a lot less flour, yellow onions (didn't accept vidalias), and added iv cloves of minced garlic. It was And so good!
09/19/2011
Our dogs rate this recipe 4 stars. I have several pounds of liver in the freezer from a beefiness side. I haven't had it since I was maybe 10 and I now realize that I do not like liver.
09/fifteen/2013
Yum! Liver never tasted so expert- a definite care for. Thanks for this recipe, will be making over again next time I have liver for sure.
09/27/2010
crawly recipe think though next time ill reduce to 1 onion and add a bell pepper ( mayby experiment with a 1/4 cup red wine and and slow cooking information technology for an hr after initial cooking) permit yall know how that turns out
02/27/2009
Delicious! Just if you like gravy with your mashed potatoes take a can of beef goop with two tablespoons of cornstarch and add to pan after cooking onions and liver. Bring to boil, reduce heat and add together liver and onions back to mixture. For well-nigh another 10 minutes or so and voilĂ gravy for your liver and onions! Applause!
01/09/2011
I have to eat liver a couple times because my B12 tanked along with my iron and the doctor is trying to raise it with some dietary changes and vitamins. I'm certain the recipe is fine then I gave information technology a four merely I'm pitiful. I was reallay hoping this recipe would brand information technology better since i accept to consume it merely it didn't I fabricated it with more than expensive calves liver, rinsed it soaked it in milk a long time and cooked it as directed. I'll make it this style again because I have to consume it and it is a good recipe but in that location are no miracles when it comes to liver :o(
01/13/2004
Very good recipes. My family loves it. I doubled the onion since it tastes then good with the liver.
05/29/2010
This was the first time I've ever prepared or eaten liver. It was slap-up when served as soon as it was cooked merely as left overs it got a little tough. Side by side fourth dimension I'll try to make just what we're going to eat that night. Also I think this serves eight rather than iv. I might add together a few actress onions likewise.
x/27/2013
This was very adept. I didn't add as much milk to the liver though because I didn't want to take abroad too much of the liver flavor. Likewise that, I as well like my onions extremely caramelized then I left information technology in the pan while the liver cooked equally well. Also added a tad bit of lemon juice and salt&pepper it at the end and it was divine!! Yum yum.
02/27/2004
Liver is never as appealing to the cook as it is to the rest of the family, because who wants to eat the stuff after handling information technology raw? Yuk! That said, I made this recipe with dogie's liver, which I usually prefer, and perhaps that was a error (though I doubt it), because we all agreed that the liver had very little flavour and was pretty boring. I'm nonetheless seqarching for a recipe for liver that'south as practiced as I've had in some nicer restaurants. They normally take vinegar in the recipe, and taste much more than rich and complex than this preparation did.
01/31/2010
Delicious!!!!! the whole family loves information technology. Beginning time I have fabricated liver and it was not like chewing on leather, the soaking in the milk and turning once does the fob. Cheers
05/12/2010
Oh, I don't know how to rate this 1. I would give it a 1 star considering I Hate liver and onions but my husband had been begging me for YEARS to make it. I finally caved and went to the butcher... he said it was the accented best liver and onions he has ever had. Over the terminal 10 years I have seen him club liver and onions in some pretty fancy restaurants and so I approximate that deserves a 5 star.... but only for those who similar liver!!!

This was the easiest and best recipe. The liver and onions tasted just as good equally the best I've had at any eating place. I've made this with both Vidalia onions and white onions both were expert but I practise recommend the Vidalia. I too Fried some bacon which is a personal favorite improver of mine with liver and onions.

I used a regular yellow onion, which turned out fine. To saute the onion, I used 2 tablespoons of World Balance substitute butter spread, just for the second 2 tablespoons of butter to cook the liver in, I substituted bacon grease. We liked liver already, just at present my husband declares that he wants "liver every dark!" It was really delicious.
